5 Hot New Hairstyles for Women with Layered Hair

5-Hot-New-Hairstyles-Layered-Spirals

You’ve found yourself the best hairstylist ever, and she (or he) put all that work into giving you a perfect head of dimensional, lively layers. Now what? Adding layers to your hair is a great way to frame your face and give your hair extra life, but they can also be really fun to style if you have the know-how! In this post, I’m sharing with you a few hot trends and hairstyles for women wondering what to do with their layered hair this summer! (With links to more pictures and tutorials! J)

1. Layered Spirals
In general, we all kind of want to be Duchess Kate Middleton. I mean, just look at this level of class:

Since the chances of any of us marrying into royalty aren’t great, we must settle for shamelessly copying her style. If you have long, layered hair, you can pretty easily achieve one of her most iconic looks: the layered spirals.

Simply use a barrel iron on the bottom of each layer of your hair to look like royalty.

2. Tiny Braids
Braids become one of the most popular, mainstream hairstyles for women last year, and they’re not going anywhere anytime soon. You can accentuate your layers by adding tiny, adorable braids throughout your hair at different lengths. You don’t have to get too fancy—just four or five loose braids wherever you want them will do the trick!

3. Long, Eye-Grazing Bangs

You’ve already got the layers, why not add one more—bangs! Long bangs, also called “fringe,” is one of the hottest hairstyles for women this year. J. Lo, along with a billion other celebrities, totally nails the look, and we’re all here for it. Getting bangs is such a fun and low-cost way to dramatically change your look; just make sure to consult with your stylist to make sure you’re getting the right style for your features.

4. Hair Embellishments
I love showing my clients all the different ways to pin up their layers. This is why I’m so excited about a really hot new hairstyle for women I’ve been seeing a lot on the runway: hair embellishments! Stylists are adding more and more accessories to models’ hair—from large metallic clips to cloth belts around the ponytail. While you’re trying to keep your layers tame and off of your neck this summer, consider adding a few statement-making hair accessories to take your style to the next level.

5. Deep Side-Part

“Where do you part your hair?” is one of the first things I ask new clients because it affects everything from the cut to color placement. Most of us are pretty attached to where we part our hair, but you can actually change your entire look just by moving it a few inches to the side. The deep side-part accentuates your layers and gives your hair a gorgeous waterfall effect. This is an especially great hairstyle for women who like to play with their hair a lot. Pro tip: it looks effortless, but it actually requires a teensie bit of care to get right if you want it to stay put all day.
