Spider Vein Removal

Clear Away Visible Veins

Spider veins don’t have to be a permanent part of your skin. Whether they appear on your legs or face, these visible blood vessels can become more noticeable over time and affect your confidence.

At Zoe Grace Salon & Med Spa, we offer personalized spider vein treatments using advanced laser technology and sclerotherapy to safely target unwanted veins while preserving the surrounding skin.

What Is Spider Vein Removal?

Spider vein removal is a minimally invasive treatment designed to eliminate small, visible blood vessels that commonly develop on the legs and face. These veins often appear as thin red, blue, or purple lines caused by genetics, aging, hormonal changes, prolonged standing, pregnancy, or sun exposure. At Zoe Grace Salon & Med Spa, we offer two highly effective treatment options based on the size, location, and appearance of your veins.

The Cutera Nd:YAG laser uses precise laser energy to heat and collapse small superficial blood vessels, allowing the body to naturally absorb them over time. This treatment is especially effective for facial spider veins and many smaller leg veins. For larger spider veins and reticular veins on the legs, we also offer sclerotherapy using Asclera®. During this treatment, a specialized solution is injected directly into the affected vein, causing it to collapse and gradually fade as it is naturally reabsorbed by the body.

During your consultation, our team will recommend the treatment, or combination of treatments, that will provide the safest and most effective results for your unique concerns.

How Spider Vein Removal Works

How does the Cutera Nd:YAG laser remove spider veins?

The Cutera Nd:YAG laser delivers precise pulses of laser energy directly into the targeted blood vessel. The heat causes the vein walls to collapse while minimizing damage to the surrounding skin. Over the following weeks, your body naturally absorbs the treated vessel, reducing its appearance. This treatment is especially effective for many facial spider veins and select leg veins.

During sclerotherapy, a small amount of Asclera is injected into the unwanted vein using a very fine needle. The solution irritates the lining of the vein, causing it to collapse and seal closed. Your body then gradually absorbs the treated vein while redirecting blood flow through healthier nearby veins.

The best treatment depends on the size, depth, location, and type of vein being treated. Facial spider veins and many smaller superficial vessels often respond well to the Cutera Nd:YAG laser, while larger spider veins and reticular veins on the legs are commonly treated with Asclera sclerotherapy. During your consultation, we’ll evaluate your concerns and recommend the treatment plan that’s best for you.

Most patients tolerate treatment well. Laser treatment is often described as a quick snapping sensation or brief feeling of warmth, while sclerotherapy involves a small pinch with each injection. Both treatments are performed in the office without general anesthesia, and discomfort is typically minimal and short-lived.

The number of treatments varies based on the size, number, and severity of your veins. Many patients see significant improvement after one to three treatments, although larger or more widespread vein concerns may require additional sessions to achieve their desired results.

Most patients return to normal daily activities immediately after treatment. Mild redness, swelling, bruising, or tenderness is common and typically resolves within several days. Depending on your treatment plan, you may also receive specific aftercare instructions, such as wearing compression stockings following sclerotherapy. Results continue to improve over the following weeks as the treated veins gradually fade.

Common Questions & Answers

Spider Vein Removal

Am I a candidate for spider vein removal?

Most healthy adults with visible spider veins or small reticular veins are good candidates for treatment. During your consultation, we’ll review your medical history, evaluate your veins, and determine whether laser treatment, sclerotherapy, or a combination of both is the best option for you.

Laser treatment uses focused light energy to heat and close unwanted blood vessels without injections, making it an excellent option for many facial spider veins and smaller vessels. Sclerotherapy uses an injectable solution called Asclera to close larger spider veins and reticular veins, particularly on the legs. Depending on your concerns, your provider may recommend one treatment or a combination of both.

Some veins begin fading within a few weeks, while others continue improving over two to three months as your body naturally absorbs the treated vessels. Larger veins and more extensive concerns may require multiple treatments for optimal results.

Most patients can resume normal daily activities immediately. After sclerotherapy, your provider may recommend wearing compression stockings for several days and temporarily avoiding strenuous exercise, hot tubs, saunas, and prolonged sun exposure to support proper healing. Following your personalized aftercare instructions helps optimize your results.

Once a treated vein has successfully closed and been absorbed by the body, it typically does not return. However, new spider veins can develop over time due to genetics, aging, hormonal changes, pregnancy, prolonged standing, or other factors. Periodic maintenance treatments may help keep your skin looking its best.

Spider vein removal effectively treats existing visible veins but cannot prevent new ones from forming. While genetics and aging cannot be controlled, maintaining a healthy weight, staying active, avoiding prolonged periods of standing or sitting, wearing compression stockings when recommended, and protecting your skin from excessive sun exposure may help minimize the development of additional spider veins.
