Rosacea Treatments

Treat Redness at the Source

Rosacea can show up differently from one complexion to the next, from persistent redness and frequent flushing to small, visible facial vessels.

Our Rosacea Treatments use advanced vascular laser and light technologies, including Vbeam Perfecta® and IPL, to create a treatment plan based on what we see in your skin. With a personalized approach, we can target unwanted redness while helping your complexion look calmer, clearer, and more even.

What Are Rosacea Treatments?

Rosacea is a chronic skin condition that commonly causes facial redness, flushing, and visible blood vessels, particularly across the cheeks, nose, chin, and forehead. While there is no cure for rosacea, advanced laser and light treatments can help manage many of its visible vascular symptoms.

At Zoe Grace Salon & Med Spa, in Fort Mitchell, KY, we offer Vbeam Perfecta® and IPL treatments with the Cutera xeo® and Cynosure StarLux® platforms, allowing us to personalize treatment based on the type and extent of redness present.

Vbeam Perfecta® is a pulsed dye laser (PDL) that uses a 595 nm wavelength to precisely target hemoglobin within unwanted blood vessels. This makes it especially useful for vascular concerns such as persistent facial redness and visible vessels. IPL uses broad-spectrum light to treat larger areas of diffuse redness and can simultaneously address certain brown pigmentation concerns.

Because rosacea varies from person to person, your treatment may involve Vbeam Perfecta®, IPL, or a combination of technologies based on your skin, concerns, and goals.

How Rosacea Treatments Work

What's the difference between Vbeam Perfecta and IPL?

Vbeam Perfecta is a true laser, meaning it delivers a specific 595 nm wavelength that precisely targets vascular structures. IPL is not a laser; it delivers a broader spectrum of light that can address both vascular redness and certain pigmentation concerns. Having both technologies allows us to select treatment based on whether your primary concern is targeted vessels, diffuse redness, pigmentation, or a combination.

The 595 nm laser energy is absorbed by hemoglobin within the targeted vessel and converted into heat. This selectively damages the unwanted vessel, which is then gradually cleared through the body’s natural processes. As treated vessels fade, persistent redness and visible vascular markings can become less noticeable.

IPL delivers controlled pulses of broad-spectrum light that are absorbed by vascular and pigmented targets within the skin. This makes it particularly useful for diffuse redness across a larger area and for patients who have a combination of redness, sun damage, and uneven pigmentation. At Zoe Grace Salon & Med Spa, IPL treatments are performed using the Cutera xeo® and Cynosure StarLux® platforms.

Rosacea can involve several different concerns at once. IPL may be useful for treating broader areas of diffuse redness and accompanying pigmentation, while Vbeam Perfecta provides highly targeted treatment for vascular redness and visible vessels. For some patients, incorporating both technologies into a personalized treatment plan allows us to address different aspects of their complexion more precisely.

Treatment plans vary based on the severity of your redness, the number and size of visible vessels, your skin’s response, and the technology being used. Because rosacea is a chronic condition, a series of initial treatments may be recommended, followed by maintenance sessions when needed to help manage recurring redness.

Improvement develops as the body gradually clears the vessels targeted during treatment. Some changes may become noticeable within the weeks following a session, while more persistent redness or extensive vascular concerns may require a series of treatments before the full improvement is visible.

Benefits Of Rosacea Treatments

Having access to both targeted vascular laser technology and versatile IPL allows us to approach rosacea based on how it actually presents in your skin.

  • Reduces the appearance of persistent facial redness
  • Targets small, visible facial blood vessels
  • Helps improve diffuse redness associated with rosacea
  • Creates a clearer, more even-looking complexion
  • Allows treatment to be customized to specific vascular concerns

Rosacea Treatments may be ideal for individuals bothered by persistent redness, flushing, or visible facial vessels. Because skin tone, rosacea severity, and the type of vascular concern can influence which technology is appropriate, a personalized consultation is an important first step.

Common Questions & Answers

Rosacea Treatments

Will Vbeam Perfecta or IPL permanently cure my rosacea?

No. Rosacea is a chronic condition, and laser or IPL treatments cannot eliminate the underlying tendency to develop redness or flushing. Instead, these technologies treat existing visible vessels and redness. New vessels or redness can develop over time, so maintenance treatments may be recommended to help manage your complexion long-term.

Yes. Vbeam Perfecta is a pulsed dye laser with a 595 nm wavelength designed to target hemoglobin within blood vessels. This targeted approach has made Vbeam technology a widely used option for vascular skin concerns, including the visible redness and vessels associated with rosacea.

Temporary redness and swelling can occur following treatment. Depending on the treatment settings and the vascular concern being addressed, some patients may also develop temporary purple-colored bruising in treated areas. Your expected response will be discussed before treatment so you know what to anticipate during recovery.

IPL can be particularly helpful for diffuse facial redness, erythema associated with rosacea, and small visible blood vessels. It can also target certain brown pigmentation concerns, making it a versatile option for patients who experience redness along with sun damage or uneven skin tone.

Depending on your skin and the specific IPL treatment selected, IPL can target both vascular redness and certain unwanted pigmentation. This can make it a valuable option for patients who have rosacea-related redness alongside sun damage, freckles, or areas of uneven pigmentation.

Temporary redness, warmth, or mild swelling can occur after IPL. If pigmentation is also treated, brown spots may temporarily darken before gradually fading. Your skin’s response will depend on the treatment settings and concerns addressed, and we’ll provide personalized aftercare instructions.
